Vistage membership cost is a question many founders grapple with, but the answer is not straightforward. Vistage does not publish a fixed price, stating instead that membership fees vary based on the specific program and your location. This ambiguity can be frustrating, especially when comparing Vistage to other peer groups that list their fees clearly.

What Vistage membership costs

The honest answer is that Vistage does not publish one. It describes the structure, not the number, and everything else you read is somebody else's estimate.

What Vistage itself says

Vistage's official pages are clear about the structure of their fees, even if they are not about the exact numbers. According to its "What is Vistage?" page, "membership fees vary based on the specific program and your location," and "Typically, membership includes a one-time enrollment fee and monthly dues." Those fees cover a peer advisory group, which the page describes as "12-16 other CEOs or local business owners", and most programs include "one full-day group meeting per month and one monthly 1-to-1 coaching session (1-2 hours)". Vistage also says it has "more than 45,000 members in 40 countries". Neither the Membership Overview page nor the value-of-membership page prints a price.

What Vistage describes: a peer group, a full day together each month and a monthly one-to-one, paid for with an enrollment fee and dues.

Where the quoted figures come from

While Vistage does not disclose specific prices, third-party sources often provide estimates. These sources fall into three types: a competing community that sells its own alternative, an SEO agency page that gives no source, and a 2023 article in Fortune. Each has its own incentives. A competing community has a reason to make Vistage look expensive. An agency page is written to draw traffic, not to be audited. Even a reputable publication can be out of date three years on. The rule is simple: any price you have not seen in writing from a Vistage chair is a rumor.

What a Vistage group is

A Vistage group is an assembly of 12 to 16 peers, all of whom are CEOs or local business owners. The cornerstone of the Vistage experience is the one full-day group meeting held each month. This commitment translates to twelve working days a year, a significant investment of time for any founder. Members also receive one monthly one-to-one coaching session, which can last between one and two hours. For a busy founder, this means allocating a substantial portion of the calendar to Vistage, so weigh the benefits against the time as carefully as the money.

Who Vistage is for

Vistage's CEO program is aimed at companies with $5 million or more in annual revenue, according to its Membership Overview page. A shared revenue threshold keeps group members at a similar stage, which is what makes the advice relevant. Vistage also lists a tier for smaller companies. The key determinant of fit is not just revenue but the stage of your company and the decisions in front of you.

Vistage vs YPO vs EO

When comparing Vistage with other peer groups, the transparency of pricing stands out. YPO lists its annual global dues at $4,790 and a one-time $4,790 initiation fee, with additional chapter dues. EO (Entrepreneurs' Organization) sets its global dues at $2,470 plus a one-time $3,500 initiation fee, also with extra chapter dues. Both provide clear, upfront pricing, which matters to founders who budget carefully. Vistage says only that fees vary by program and location, which means a prospective member has to speak to a Vistage chair to get a precise quote. We have set out YPO requirements and cost in more detail, and what a mastermind group is if you are weighing a smaller format.

If you are under the revenue line

If your company is below the revenue line, Vistage's CEO program may not be the right fit. There are other options to consider. Vistage lists a tier for smaller companies, which can be a more accessible entry point. The Longevity Social Club is a working community for women building companies, a different product with a different format: The Community is free, while The Club costs $97 a month or $970 a year. Questions to ask a chair before you join

Before committing to Vistage, gather the information the website leaves out. Here are the questions to ask a Vistage chair:

  • Can you provide a written quote for the enrollment fee and monthly dues?
  • What factors can cause the monthly dues to change?
  • What is the length of the contract, and how can I leave the program?
  • Who else is in the group, and what industries do they represent?
  • How do you run the monthly group meetings, and what is the typical agenda?
  • What topics and issues are typically covered in the one-to-one coaching sessions?

The short version

Vistage membership cost varies by program and location, with a structure that includes a one-time enrollment fee and monthly dues. Vistage does not publish specific prices, so ask a Vistage chair for a written quote before committing to the program. A day a month is the larger cost for most founders; price that too.
